A former Chattanooga news anchor who left broadcasting for the legal profession has died. 60-year-old Tracy Sheehan, died at her vacation home in Fannin County, Georgia last week. Police reports indicate that she had fallen, hitting her head on a hot tub. Neighbors responded to the cabin after hearing her dog barking for a long period of time.
In the early 1980s, as Tracy Moore, she co-anchored the evening news first on WDEF-TV, and later on WTVC. She left Chattanooga to go to law school, and soon became a circuit judge in the Tampa, Florida area before her retirement in 2017. Since that time she had worked as a mediator.
She was a native of Alaska, and became widely known in the Tampa area as an avid motorcyclist. She was also a breast cancer survivor, and an advocate for children.
At WDEF, she worked with news co-anchor Dale Harris, and sports anchor Randy Smith. At WTVC, her colleagues included news anchor Bob Johnson, weather forecaster Don Welch, and sportscaster Darrell Patterson.
