Former Chattanooga news anchor dies in north Georgia drowning incident

A former Chattanooga news anchor who left broadcasting for the legal profession has died.  60-year-old Tracy Sheehan, died at her vacation home in Fannin County, Georgia last week. Police reports indicate that she had fallen, hitting her head on a hot tub. Neighbors responded to the cabin after hearing her dog barking for a long period of time.

In the early 1980s, as Tracy Moore, she co-anchored the evening news first on WDEF-TV, and later on WTVC.  She left Chattanooga to go to law school, and soon became a circuit judge in the Tampa, Florida area before her retirement in 2017.  Since that time she had worked as a mediator.

She was a native of Alaska, and became widely known in the Tampa area as an avid motorcyclist. She was also a breast cancer survivor, and an advocate for children.

At WDEF, she worked with news co-anchor Dale Harris, and sports anchor Randy Smith.  At WTVC, her colleagues included news anchor Bob Johnson, weather forecaster Don Welch, and sportscaster Darrell Patterson.
